The registration for the Great Lakes Phragmites Collaborative’s next webinar is now open! This will be our last webinar of the 2023 Winter/Spring session and we hope you can join us Tuesday May 23rd from 2:30 -3:30 EST.
We are very excited to have Nic Tippery of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater present: “Using molecular genomic tools to investigate genetic diversity and hybridization in Phragmites“
Presentation Description: DNA data have been used to distinguish between native and non-native Phragmites subspecies and to identify hybrids between them. Both subspecies occur frequently in the Great Lakes region, sometimes in close proximity, yet only a few cases of hybridization have been documented. We set out to corroborate previous evidence of genetic diversity in Minnesota and Wisconsin and to survey for evidence of intersubspecific hybridization, using a genotyping-by-sequencing approach
