On Monday, July 10 at 6 p.m., St. Clair County Parks is hosting Mussel Mania at Columbus County Park, 1670 Bauman Road, Columbus 48063 and we’d love to see you there. Freshwater mussels are some of the least known and most threatened species in Michigan and the Great Lakes. Join local ecologists and mussel experts David Dortman and Mike Thomas for an evening learning about and searching for these and other fascinating creatures in a shallow, calm stretch of the Belle River in the park. Good things to bring include waders, old shoes, water shoes, or boots, tick and insect repellant, and your own snacks and water. All are welcome at this free and family-friendly event.
