Stewards’ Circle: Wetland banking

March 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

This month’s topic:

Let’s talk wetlands! Wetlands offer vital ecosystem services such as water filtration, flood control, and wildlife habitat, however they have been severely impacted in Michigan. We will discuss one of the tools used to help restore Michigan’s wetlands: wetland mitigation banking. Wetland banks establish new wetland areas in advance of anticipated losses. Topics covered will include Michigan’s wetland program, constructing and managing wetland banks, and successes and challenges faced with restoring wetlands.

Host: Elizabeth White (Ecologist, Niswander Environmental LLC)

Location: Ann Arbor District Library – Pittsfield Branch (Muskrat Room. 2359 Oak Valley Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48103)
