Position Summary
The Charlevoix, Antrim, Kalkaska, and Emmet county Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area(CAKE CISMA) is recruiting an invasive species field technician. This a seasonal position, working from 36- 40 hours/week for up to 16 weeks in northern lower Michigan. Primary responsibilities include working under the direct supervision of the Strike Team Crew Leader to manage terrestrial invasive plants throughout the CAKE service region. Managing invasive species will be done through the use of multiple treatment methods including manual and chemical treatments as well as surveying and prioritizing infested sites. Data collection and entry to software applications will also be involved.

Required Qualifications
* Seeking a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in natural
resources, biology or ecology OR high school diploma and 1 year (season) of experience in
invasive species management
* Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificate (Categories 5 and 6) OR ability and
willingness to obtain certificate within 2 weeks of employment
* Willingness to work efficiently outdoors in varying conditions and terrain
* Able to work flexible hours
* Must possess a valid state driver’s license
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a daily basis
* Excellent social and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills/Experience
* Plant identification and knowledge of regional invasive species
* Strong organizational skills
* Basic computer efficiency (Windows, MS Office)
* Proficient knowledge of GPS unit manipulation and GIS mapping
