Sister Marie Kopin, C.PP.S. is a member of the Gathering Society, Secretary of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club, and a member of the North American Mycological Association Education and Toxology Committees. She is working with Dr. Chris Wright as a member of the Advisory Board of the Midwest Mycological Project which provides certification for licensing to inspect mushrooms foraged in the wild. She has hunted mushrooms since she was a child and has been a member of NAMA since the 1970’s. She is retired emeritus from the Department of Communication Disorders at Central Michigan University. She currently directs a church choir and is chair of the Committee on Environment Concerns in her Congregation, The Sisters of the Precious Blood, Dayton, Ohio.
Barbara Semans is a retired career teacher. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, with a BA, Elementary and Special Education. She also has a MA, in Special Education. She spent 30+ years working with Special Olympics athletes as coach, volunteer, and area management team member. Of recent years she is a member of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club (MMHC) and North American Mycology Association (NAMA) Barb boast that she is a life-long outdoors aficionado. Her interests include mushroom hunting, kayaking, walking, gardening, reading, bird-watching, and Zumba.
