This month’s topic is “Prioritizing invasive species management through a natural community lens”, presented by Julie McLaughlin at Michigan Natural Features Inventory. MNFI botanists and ecologists have developed a prioritization model for invasive species management in protected and public lands. This method is a simple way to decide where to invest in management and protection by using natural community assessments, GIS data like size and location, invasive species surveys, and rare plant locations. We will discuss the project in general and how similar filters can be applied in the Huron-Arbor region.
