Managing for Oak Wilt- West MI Conservation Network

April 27, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Oak wilt is a growing problem of both private and public land managers as well as home owners. This invasive forest pest kills infested oaks and is difficult to manage.  Treatment costs can be expensive so it is important to identify early.

Join us at the Wittenbach Wege Center & Wege Natural Area  for this two-part program.  We will start with a presentation by Heidi Frei, DNR Parks and Recreation Division Forest Pest Specialist. Then, Nick Sanchez, Conservation Easement Stewardship Specialist for the Land Conservancy of West Michigan, will lead a hike to an oak wilt site.

This program is for the general public as well as practitioners.

Immediately following the Oak Wilt program, there will be anOak Wilt After Party at New Union Brewery.  Join other natural land managers to discuss the difficulties of managing oak wilt on large tracts of land nestled within a landscape of private lands.
