Land Conservation & Climate Change | Capitol Connection webinar
November 18, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 12:00 pm EST

The Emerald Arc is at the heart of Legacy Land Conservancy’s mission. It’s the idea that nature should be available “for ourselves, for our neighbors, forever.”
It falls right in line with what Legacy Land Conservancy is. This nonprofit with local residents and governments to conserve land and water in Jackson, Lenawee, and Washtenaw counties and beyond. The conservancy gives people access to nature; protects water and wildlife; and encourages local, sustainable agriculture.
The Emerald Arc Legacy Land Conservancy is grounded and also helps prevent the worst effects of climate change. The large swathes of flora the nonprofit protects absorb carbon dioxide, a leading cause of global warming. But there are other, more hidden climate benefits to the organization’s work—flood protections, pollution protections, and better agricultural practices.
Land protection manager Susan LaCroix and easement stewardship coordinator Clint McGill work with local residents to protect our land and water. Join them and Michigan Environmental Council President & CEO Conan Smith in our latest Capitol Connection webinar as we zoom into their work and then zoom out to see how it intersects with the climate change fight.
Note: Registering for this webinar will register you to the Environmental Council’s email list. You can unsubscribe at any time.
