A tour of the facilities and the landscape features at the Lenawee ISD Center for a Sustainable Future will be highlighted, including a walk through the 35 acre wood lot. The school is used as a land lab where students get hands-on experience with land management. The Center for a Sustainable Future is a net-zero energy school, and the building is LEED Platinum Certified. Highlights of the infrastructure include a living green roof, solar panels, and more. The landscape includes many notable features such as a native prairie and best management practices for wetlands. Three programs are housed at the site including Agri-Tech, Horticulture, and Natural Resources. This property highlights the collaboration that is needed to sustainably use the land for multiple purposes.
