Birding by Ear and Beyond
May 6 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am EDT

The songs and calls of birds are often the most accessible clues we have to identifying these feathery neighbors of ours. Especially during spring migration when tiny woodland warblers are hidden high up in the treetops or down in the thick brush at the edge of a wetland. We’ll start with quiet listening – a very good place to start. Then we’ll begin to learn a few of the specific songs we are hearing around us and also pay attention to other bird sign including particular habitat preferences of individual species. Hopefully we’ll get to see a bird or two as well! We’ll start early, but it will be worth it, as they say “the early bird gets the worm!” Taught by Jeremy Siegrist.
