Amna Osman has 17 years of experience as a public health innovator and leader with extensive background in all aspects of program management. Amna served as the Director of the Division of Health, Wellness, and Disease Control for Michigan Department of Community Health from 2008 through December of 2013. Prior to working with the Michigan Department of Community Health, Amna worked for the Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. as the Executive Director. Wellness AIDS Services, Inc. is the only AIDS/HIV service organization in Genesee County serving the community for over 25 years. The organization provides people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS vital emotional and practical support services, which have enabled them to live with the disease. Amna has also worked with the United Nations eradicating poverty through income generating initiatives in Asian and African countries. Amna is a graduate of the Great Lakes Leadership Academy, Leadership Advancement Program. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the United States International University in San Diego, CA. She has a Master of Public Administration from University of Michigan and a Master of Education Degree in Counseling from Wayne State University.
