The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has had success partnering with local agencies and organizations on research and restoration projects. Partners include universities, colleges, local organizations, federal, state, and local agencies, and more. It is the Tribe's goal to support efforts for restoration and water quality management. Projects include outreach and education campaigns, pathogen research, streambank stabilization, and more. Challenges have included permitting and jurisdiction issues. In this discussion we will explore how we work together while not seeing eye to eye on jurisdictional issues. Throughout our careers we have heard that water does not follow jurisdictional boundaries, but how do we practice this philosophy as partners in restoration?
